Hanako Wakatsuki

Hanako Wakatsuki is a historian and preservationist at the Old Idaho Penitentiary and an advocate of Japanese American incarceration sites. In 2011, she was presented with the Excellence in Partnership award by the superintendent of the Minidoka National Historic Site. Hanako has successfully written and assisted in writing several grants totaling over $300,000, specifically for the Friends of Minidoka's educational programming and site development. Hanako is currently the president of Friends of Minidoka, a nonprofit organization, and co-chairing the Civil Liberties Symposium committee under the Friends of Minidoka.
