Lane Ryo Hirabayashi

Lane Ryo Hirabayashi (1952–2020), was the inaugural "George and Sakaye Aratani Chair in Japanese American Incarceration, Redress, and Community" at UCLA. His M.A. (1976) and Ph.D. (1981) degrees, both in socio-cultural anthropology, were from the University of California, Berkeley. He wrote over thirty scholarly articles, and was the author or editor of nine books and anthologies. Most recently, he was co-editor of NCRR: The Grassroots Struggle for Japanese American Redress and Reparations (UCLA, Asian American Studies Center Press, 2018).
