Mieko Matsumoto

Mieko Matsumoto is an instructor at Honolulu Community College. She received a B.A. from the University of Puget Sound in International Political Economy and History. After a two year stint teaching English in Japan with the JET Programme she returned to the states to pursue a M.A. in history at the University of Washington where she specialized in Asian American history and the history of the American West. Her research interests are driven in part by family stories about life on the sugar plantations in Hawai'i, fighting in the 442nd, and incarceration at Heart Mountain Concentration Camp.
