Documentary film centering on the return of Japanese Americans to their homes after their exclusion and incarceration in concentration camps. Produced and directed by Dianne Fukami and based on interviews and archival photographs, Starting Over covers the difficulties returnees faced in securing jobs and housing and on the terrorist activities that greeted some. Among those interviewed are Norman Mineta, Bill Taketa, Mel Tominaga, and Shig Takahashi. Starting Over was produced by KCSM-TV and the San Mateo Community College District as part of "The New Americans" series in 1996.
