On what will be her final day of school, Penny—wearing the \"Proud to Be Chinese\" button than her mother pins on her every morning—comes to pick up Aya as usual. But after being harassed by white children on their way to school, they decide to spend the day playing in the fields and parks before heading home. Aya's family eats on the floor, the rest of their things packed or sold off. The next morning, the Matsuis report for their exile and are put on busses for Manzanar. Penny comes by their house, finding it empty and, shunned by the other kids, rides alone on the school bus to school.\n</p><p><i>A Crossroad Called Manzanar</i> received a grant from the <a class=\"encyc notrg\" href=\"/wiki/California_Civil_Liberties_Public_Education_Program\" title=\"California Civil Liberties Public Education Program\">California Civil Liberties Public Education Program</a> and assistance from the <a class=\"encyc notrg\" href=\"/wiki/Japanese_American_National_Museum\" title=\"Japanese American National Museum\">Japanese American National Museum</a>, Chinese Historical Society of Southern California, and Independent Filmmaker Project.\n</p>\n<div id=\"authorByline\"><b>Authored by <a class=\"encyc notrg\" href=\"/wiki/Brian_Niiya\" title=\"Brian Niiya\">Brian Niiya</a>, Densho</b></div>\n<div id=\"citationAuthor\" style=\"display:none;\">Niiya, Brian</div>\n<p>Might also like <i><a class=\"encyc rg\" href=\"/wiki/Tsuru_(film)\" title=\"Tsuru (film)\">Tsuru</a></i> (2014); <i><a class=\"encyc rg\" href=\"/wiki/Half_Kenneth_(film)\" title=\"Half Kenneth (film)\">Half Kenneth</a></i> (2008)<i>; </i><a class=\"encyc rg\" href=\"/wiki/Moving_Day_(film)\" title=\"Moving Day (film)\">Moving Day</a><i> (1965)</i>\n</p>\n<div id=\"RelatedArticlesDisplay\">\n<div class=\"section\" id=\"Related_Articles\"><h2><span class=\"mw-headline\" id=\"Related_Articles\">Related Articles</span></h2><div class=\"section_content\">\n<p>\n</p>\n<div id=\"RelatedArticlesSectionDisplay\">\n<div class=\"section\" id=\"\"><h3><span class=\"mw-headline\" id=\"\"></span></h3><div class=\"section_content\">\n<p>\n</p>\n<ul><li> <a class=\"encyc notrg\" href=\"/wiki/Dramatic_films/videos_on_incarceration\" title=\"Dramatic films/videos on incarceration\">Dramatic films/videos on incarceration</a></li></ul>\n</div></div></div>\n</div></div></div>\n<div class=\"section\" id=\"For_More_Information\"><h2><span class=\"mw-headline\" id=\"For_More_Information\">For More Information</span></h2><div class=\"section_content\">\n<p><a class=\"external text offsite\" href=\"http://www.imdb.com/video/wab/vi4199193113\" rel=\"nofollow\"><i>A Crossroad Called Manzanar</i> trailer</a>.\n</p>\n<!-- \nNewPP limit report\nCPU time usage: 0.120 seconds\nReal time usage: 0.123 seconds\nPreprocessor visited node count: 401/1000000\nPreprocessor generated node count: 2701/1000000\nPost‐expand include size: 9402/2097152 bytes\nTemplate argument size: 1998/2097152 bytes\nHighest expansion depth: 4/40\nExpensive parser function count: 0/100\nExtLoops count: 0/100\n-->\n<!-- Saved in parser cache with key mediawiki:pcache:idhash:1497-0!*!0!!*!5!* and timestamp 20180404174256 and revision id 28465\n -->\n</div></div><div class=\"toplink\"><a href=\"#top\"><i class=\"icon-chevron-up\"></i> Top</a></div></body></html>",
