Though the men write letters to their families, few have received any letters in return, due to, they believe, delays caused by censorship of the letters and their being moved from camp to camp. One day, the narrator sees a letter in its envelope tacked on a bulletin board at the camp post office and copies it down. It is an anonymously authored letter by a Nisei in English that expresses concern and support for the internees. When the narrator reads it to a group of internees, they are greatly moved.\n</p><p>Originally published in Japan in 1950, the story was reprinted in both Japanese and English in the 1980 anthology <i>Ayumi</i>.\n</p>\n<div id=\"authorByline\"><b>Authored by <a class=\"encyc notrg\" href=\"/wiki/Brian_Niiya\" title=\"Brian Niiya\">Brian Niiya</a>, Densho</b></div>\n<div id=\"citationAuthor\" style=\"display:none;\">Niiya, Brian</div>\n<p>Might also like \"<a class=\"encyc rg\" href=\"/wiki/Sundown_in_Topaz_(short_story)\" title=\"Sundown in Topaz (short story)\">Sundown in Topaz</a>\" by Sheridan Tatsuno; \"<a class=\"encyc rg\" href=\"/wiki/The_Old_Man_on_Crutches_(short_story)\" title=\"The Old Man on Crutches (short story)\">The Old Man on Crutches</a>\" by Setsuko Nagata; \"<a class=\"encyc rg\" href=\"/wiki/The_Man_with_the_Bulging_Pockets_(short_story)\" title=\"The Man with the Bulging Pockets (short story)\">The Man with the Bulging Pockets</a>\" by Toshio Mori\n</p>\n<div class=\"section\" id=\"For_More_Information\"><h2><span class=\"mw-headline\" id=\"For_More_Information\">For More Information</span></h2><div class=\"section_content\">\n<p>Sasaki, Sasabune. \"A Letter.\" In <i>Ayumi: A Japanese American Anthology</i>.
