(film)\">Go for Broke!</a></i>), still photographs and interview with many <a href=\"/wiki/Nisei\" title=\"Nisei\">Nisei</a> veterans, their white commanders, and others tied to the story. <i>American at Heart</i> covers the origin of the units in Hawai'i and Washington, DC, basic training in Camps McCoy and Shelby, their experiences in combat in Europe, and their return to the Hawai'i and the continental U.S. after the war. The film also contrasts the experience of Japanese Americans in Hawai'i vs. those on the West Coast, outlining the mass forced removal and incarceration of the latter. Among those interviewed are <a class=\"mw-redirect\" href=\"/wiki/Mark_Clark\" title=\"Mark Clark\">General Mark Clark</a>, the World War II commander of the Fifth Army and 15th Army Group in Europe, who discusses what he calls \"the wrong decision\" to send Japanese Americans to \"concentration camps\" and his attempts to convince General <a href=\"/wiki/John_DeWitt\" title=\"John DeWitt\">John DeWitt</a> to rescind his decision to do so, as well as his glowing descriptions of the Nisei units in combat; Senators <a href=\"/wiki/Spark_Matsunaga\" title=\"Spark Matsunaga\">Spark Matsunaga</a> and <a href=\"/wiki/Daniel_Inouye\" title=\"Daniel Inouye\">Daniel Inouye</a> on their experiences as members of the 100th and 442nd respectively; and Shig Doi, who takes part in the rescue of the <a href=\"/wiki/Rescue_of_the_Lost_Battalion\" title=\"Rescue of the Lost Battalion\">Lost Battalion</a>, only to hear of <a href=\"/wiki/Terrorist_incidents_against_West_Coast_returnees\" title=\"Terrorist incidents against West Coast returnees\">\"night riders\"</a> attacking his family upon their return to their farm in California. The film ends with scenes from the exhibition <i><a href=\"/wiki/A_More_Perfect_Union:_Japanese_Americans_and_the_U.S._Constitution_(exhibition)\" title=\"A More Perfect Union: Japanese Americans and the U.S. Constitution (exhibition)\">A More Perfect Union</a></i> at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History.\n</p>\n<div id=\"authorByline\"><b>Authored by <a href=\"/wiki/Brian_Niiya\" title=\"Brian Niiya\">Brian Niiya</a>, Densho</b></div>\n<div id=\"citationAuthor\" style=\"display:none;\">Niiya, Brian</div>\n<div id=\"RelatedArticlesDisplay\">\n<h2><span class=\"mw-headline\" id=\"Related_Articles\">Related Articles</span></h2>\n<p>\n</p>\n<div id=\"RelatedArticlesSectionDisplay\">\n<h3><span class=\"mw-headline\" id=\"\"></span></h3>\n<p>\n</p>\n<ul><li> <a href=\"/wiki/Dramatic_films/videos_on_incarceration\" title=\"Dramatic films/videos on incarceration\">Dramatic films/videos on incarceration</a></li></ul>\n</div>\n</div>\n<br/>\n<!-- \nNewPP limit report\nCPU time usage: 0.100 seconds\nReal time usage: 0.102 seconds\nPreprocessor visited node count: 368/1000000\nPreprocessor generated node count: 2649/1000000\nPost‚Äźexpand include size: 9572/2097152 bytes\nTemplate argument size: 3463/2097152 bytes\nHighest expansion depth: 4/40\nExpensive parser function count: 0/100\nExtLoops count: 0/100\n-->\n<!-- Saved in parser cache with key mediawiki:pcache:idhash:3159-0!*!0!!*!*!* and timestamp 20170713021116 and revision id 25673\n -->\n<div class=\"toplink\"><a href=\"#top\"><i class=\"icon-chevron-up\"></i> Top</a></div></body></html>",
