During World War II, she, along with her four sisters and parents, was forcibly sent to the\n  <a class=\"encyc notrg\" href=\"/Fresno_(detention_facility)/\" title=\"Fresno (detention facility)\">\n   Fresno Assembly Center\n  </a>\n  before being moved to permanent\n  <a class=\"encyc notrg\" href=\"/War_Relocation_Authority/\" title=\"War Relocation Authority\">\n   War Relocation Authority\n  </a>\n  camps in\n  <a class=\"encyc notrg\" href=\"/Jerome/\" title=\"Jerome\">\n   Jerome\n  </a>\n  and\n  <a class=\"encyc notrg\" href=\"/Rohwer/\" title=\"Rohwer\">\n   Rohwer\n  </a>\n  , Arkansas. After the war, the Tsubouchi family moved to Chicago, Illinois, where, as a young adult, she was crowned \"Miss Nisei Queen\" and attended Rollins College in Florida from 1951-53.\n </p>\n <p>\n  In 1958, she appeared in the stage production of\n  <i>\n   The World of Suzie Wong\n  </i>\n  in New York. She won a Drama-Logue Award for ensemble performance for\n  <i>\n   Tea\n  </i>\n  at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. She has also appeared in many productions with East West Players in Los Angeles, including\n  <i>\n   Into The Woods\n  </i>\n  . She toured the U.S. and Europe in\n  <i>\n   The Peony Pavilion\n  </i>\n  in 1997.\n </p>\n <p>\n  Fischer has had numerous guest-starring roles on network television including FX's\n  <i>\n   It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia\n  </i>\n  as a North Korean bar owner named Mr. Kim. She is sometimes credited as \"Takayo Doran.\"\n </p>\n <p>\n  Fischer has done extensive voice-over work on several cartoon programs.
