All footage—even contemporary interview footage and footage shot at <a class=\"encyc notrg\" href=\"/wiki/Tule_Lake\" title=\"Tule Lake\">Tule Lake</a>—is in black and white. Identified inmate narrators include poet and playwright <a class=\"encyc notrg\" href=\"/wiki/Hiroshi_Kashiwagi\" title=\"Hiroshi Kashiwagi\">Hiroshi Kashiwagi</a>, Mary Otani, Michi Mukai, and Kumito Ishida. The bulk of the film deals with living conditions in the concentration camps—the lack of privacy, the breaking up of the family unit, employment, food and so forth—along with the <a class=\"encyc notrg\" href=\"/wiki/Loyalty_questionnaire\" title=\"Loyalty questionnaire\">loyalty questionnaire</a> and <a class=\"encyc notrg\" href=\"/wiki/Segregation\" title=\"Segregation\">segregation</a>. The film is also known as <i>Bitter Memories: Tule Lake</i>, even though only the last few minutes of the film focus on Tule Lake.\n</p>\n<div id=\"authorByline\"><b>Authored by <a class=\"encyc notrg\" href=\"/wiki/Brian_Niiya\" title=\"Brian Niiya\">Brian Niiya</a>, Densho</b></div>\n<div id=\"citationAuthor\" style=\"display:none;\">Niiya, Brian</div>\n<p>Might also like <i><a class=\"encyc rg\" href=\"/wiki/Guilty_by_Reason_of_Race_(film)\" title=\"Guilty by Reason of Race (film)\">Guilty by Reason of Race</a></i> (1972); <i><a class=\"encyc rg\" href=\"/wiki/In_Time_of_War_(film)\" title=\"In Time of War (film)\">In Time of War</a></i> (2004); <i><a class=\"encyc rg\" href=\"/wiki/Resistance_at_Tule_Lake_(film)\" title=\"Resistance at Tule Lake (film)\">Resistance at Tule Lake</a></i> (2016)\n</p>\n<div id=\"RelatedArticlesDisplay\">\n<div class=\"section\" id=\"Related_Articles\"><h2><span class=\"mw-headline\" id=\"Related_Articles\">Related Articles</span></h2><div class=\"section_content\">\n<p>\n</p>\n<div id=\"RelatedArticlesSectionDisplay\">\n<div class=\"section\" id=\"\"><h3><span class=\"mw-headline\" id=\"\"></span></h3><div class=\"section_content\">\n<p>\n</p>\n<ul><li> <a class=\"encyc notrg\" href=\"/wiki/Dramatic_films/videos_on_incarceration\" title=\"Dramatic films/videos on incarceration\">Dramatic films/videos on incarceration</a></li></ul>\n</div></div></div>\n</div></div></div>\n<br/>\n<div class=\"section\" id=\"For_More_Information\"><h2><span class=\"mw-headline\" id=\"For_More_Information\">For More Information</span></h2><div class=\"section_content\">\n<p><i>The Bitter Memory</i> streaming at the <a class=\"external text offsite\" href=\"https://archive.org/details/cabemrc_000010\" rel=\"nofollow\">Internet Archive</a>.\n</p>\n<!-- \nNewPP limit report\nCPU time usage: 0.120 seconds\nReal time usage: 0.126 seconds\nPreprocessor visited node count: 399/1000000\nPreprocessor generated node count: 2705/1000000\nPost‐expand include size: 8877/2097152 bytes\nTemplate argument size: 1800/2097152 bytes\nHighest expansion depth: 4/40\nExpensive parser function count: 0/100\nExtLoops count: 0/100\n-->\n<!-- Saved in parser cache with key mediawiki:pcache:idhash:3228-0!*!0!!*!5!* and timestamp 20180309150258 and revision id 28619\n -->\n</div></div><div class=\"toplink\"><a href=\"#top\"><i class=\"icon-chevron-up\"></i> Top</a></div></body></html>",
