Ben Kobashigawa

Ben Kobashigawa , PhD, is an emeritus professor in Asian American Studies at San Francisco State University where he taught Japanese American history and other Asian American Studies courses since 1986. He earned a BA in Linguistics at UCLA, an MA in Economics at University of Michigan, and PhD in Sociology at Edinburgh University, Scotland. He translated and edited the History of Okinawans in North America (1989) and a number of research articles in Asian American Studies. Currently, he is leading an Okinawa Studies study group in the Northern California Okinawan community.
