Eileen Tamura is Professor and Chair of the Department of Educational Foundations, College of Education, University of Hawai'i. She serves as associate editor of the History of Education Quarterly, and editorial board member of the Journal of American Ethnic History. She was the History of Education Society President in 2008-09. Her books include Americanization, Acculturation, and Ethnic Identity: The Nisei Generation in Hawaii, 1994; The History of Discrimination in U.S. Education: Marginality, Agency, and Power, 2008 (ed.); and In Defense of Justice: Joseph Kurihara and the Japanese American Struggle for Equality, 2013.
