Karen Inouye

Karen Inouye earned her Ph.D. in American Studies from Brown University and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of American Studies at Indiana University, Bloomington. She is preparing a book-length manuscript entitled "The Long Afterlife of Wartime Incarceration," an interdisciplinary and comparative study of the long-term impact of the imprisonment of Japanese Canadians and Japanese Americans. In May of 2012, Professor Inouye traveled to Vancouver, Canada to interview several elderly Japanese Canadians who had been expelled from the University of British Columbia in 1942 and returned to UBC this past Spring to receive honorary diplomas.
