Born in Spokane, Washington, he moved with his family to Juneau, Alaska, as a child, where his father worked as a barber. In addition to\n \n Sushi and Sourdough,\n \n which draws on his childhood memories to tell the story of a Japanese American family in Alaska, he also authored a history of the 442nd's cannon company.\n
\n
\n \n Authored by\n \n Brian Niiya\n \n , Densho\n \n
\n
\n Niiya, Brian\n
\n
\n
\n \n For More Information\n \n
\n
\n
\n Kanazawa, Tooru J. \"After Pearl Harbor: New York City.\"\n \n Common Ground\n \n (March 1942): 13–14.\n \n http://www.unz.org/Pub/CommonGround-1942q1-00013\n \n .\n
\n
\n ———.\n \n Sushi and Sourdough: A Novel\n \n .
