She has led National Park Service planning and design projects and studies related to the incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II. These include projects at Minidoka National Historic Site, Manzanar National Historic Site, Tule Lake Unit, Bainbridge Island Japanese American Memorial, Honouliuli Gulch in Hawai‘i. Tamura’s family members were incarcerated at Minidoka and Tule Lake.
