She holds a B.A. from Carleton College and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.\n </p>\n <p>\n  Her scholarship centers on Jews in the West, and she is particularly interested in relationships between western Jews and other minority ethnic groups. Her published work includes chapters in the anthologies\n  <i>\n   Jewish Life in the American West\n  </i>\n  (2002) and\n  <i>\n   California Jews\n  </i>\n  (2003), and articles in journals including\n  <i>\n   American Jewish History\n  </i>\n  ,\n  <i>\n   American Jewish Archives\n  </i>\n  , and the\n  <i>\n   Journal of American Ethnic History\n  </i>\n  . Her monograph\n  <a class=\"external text offsite\" href=\"https://archive.org/details/firsttocrydownin00unse\" rel=\"nofollow\">\n   <i>\n    The First to Cry Down Injustice?  Western Jews and Japanese Removal during WWII\n   </i>\n  </a>\n  (2008) was a National Jewish Book Award finalist.
