He authored\n \n Catch A Wave\n \n , which traced the development of the Democratic Party in Hawaii;\n \n Nation Within, The History of America's Occupation of Hawaii\n \n ;\n \n The Island Edge of America\n \n and, most recently,\n \n I Respectfully Dissent: A Biography of Edward H. Nakamura\n \n . His documentary film\n \n The First Battle\n \n /PBS 2005 and short film\n \n Ganbare\n \n /standing exhibit, Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i, are antecedents of his current research and writing project about Yoshida, Ching and the Morale Section. Other documentary films include\n \n Arirang: The Korean American Journey\n \n and\n \n Ninoy Aquino and the Rise of People Power\n \n .\n
