John Streamas is a biracial Japanese American, shin-issei, born in Tokyo during a polio scare. His degrees in English come from Miami University and Syracuse University, and his PhD in American Culture Studies comes from Bowling Green, where he studied under E. San Juan Jr and Delia Aguilar. An associate professor in Comparative Ethnic Studies at Washington State University, he researches multicultural literature, nuclear weapons and racism, and the politics of time and space; he writes fiction, poetry, short plays, and lyric essays; and he is revising a manuscript on race and the atomic bomb.
