Tom Coffman

Tom Coffman (1942–2025) was an independent writer/producer. He authored Catch A Wave , which traced the development of the Democratic Party in Hawaii; Nation Within, The History of America's Occupation of Hawaii ; The Island Edge of America , I Respectfully Dissent: A Biography of Edward H. Nakamura , Tadaima! I Am Home: A Transnational Family History , and Inclusion: How Hawai`i Protected Japanese Americans from Mass Internment, Transformed Itself, and Changed America . His documentary film The First Battle /PBS 2005 and short film Ganbare /standing exhibit, Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i, are antecedents of the last. Other documentary films include Arirang: The Korean American Journey and Ninoy Aquino and the Rise of People Power .
