Allan W. Austin is Professor of History at Misericordia University. His publications include Asian American History and Culture: An Encyclopedia (Armonk, New York, 2010, co-edited with Huping Ling); Space and Time: Essays on Visions of History in Science Fiction and Fantasy Television (Jefferson, North Carolina, 2010, co-edited with David C. Wright Jr.); and From Concentration Camp to Campus: Japanese American Students and World War II (Urbana, Illinois, 2004). His latest book is Quaker Brotherhood: Interracial Activism and the American Friends Service Committee , 1917-1950 (Urbana, Illinois, 2012), and he and is currently researching superheroes and race in the American experience.
