Anna Pegler-Gordon

Anna Pegler-Gordon is a Professor in the James Madison College and Asian Pacific American Studies Program at Michigan State University. She teaches courses in Asian American history, ethnic history, immigration and citizenship policy. She has published two books, In Sight of America: Photography and the Development of U.S. Immigration Policy (University of California Press, 2009) and Closing the Golden Door: Asian Migration and the Hidden History of Exclusion at Ellis Island (University of North Carolina Press, 2021). Her latest research focuses on Nikkei resistance to curfew and travel regulations prior to and outside of confinement camps during World War II.
