Eileen Tamura

Eileen Tamura is Professor Emerita, College of Education, University of Hawai'i. Before retiring, she chaired the Department of Educational Foundations and served as President of the History of Education Society. She was associate editor of the History of Education Quarterly and editorial board member of the Journal of American Ethnic History. Her books include Americanization, Acculturation, and Ethnic Identity: The Nisei Generation in Hawaii, 1994; The History of Discrimination in U.S. Education: Marginality, Agency, and Power, 2008 (ed.); In Defense of Justice: Joseph Kurihara and the Japanese American Struggle for Equality, 2013; and We Too! Gender Equity in Education and the Road to Title IX, 2022.
