Eileen Tamura is Professor and Chair of the Department of Educational Foundations, College of Education, University of Hawai'i. She serves as associate editor of the History of Education Quarterly , and editorial board member of the Journal of American Ethnic History . She was the History of Education Society President in 2008-09. Her books include Americanization, Acculturation, and Ethnic Identity: The Nisei Generation in Hawaii , 1994; The History of Discrimination in U.S. Education: Marginality, Agency, and Power , 2008 (ed.); and In Defense of Justice: Joseph Kurihara and the Japanese American Struggle for Equality , 2013.
